Stretching is important on so many levels. It keeps our muscles flexible and healthy which keeps our range of motion in tact. The more flexible you are, the better your joints will feel. It’s important to stretch during and after exercise however you can stretch at any time. We often stretch after long car rides or sitting at the desk for too long but you can take a few minutes multiple times throughout the day to take a few breaths and stretch your body.
Yoga is great for stretching. It’s like a double bonus because in addition to all of the great stretching that you get from yoga, you also strengthen your core. The awesome thing about yoga is that it’s good for all levels and small tweaks can make a big difference on the benefits that you reap. Make a conscious effort every day to incorporate a few stretches into your daily routine. You will be glad that you did.
